To many people, money is not the most important part of your whole life, but it does play a large part. Connecting your financial goals to the rest of your life is necessary for you to be able to accomplish your goals.
Unfortunately, too many Americans simply don’t know enough about investing, budgeting, and credit to make sound financial decisions. Without proper knowledge, people simply do not have the power to control their financial futures.
The TIAA Institute conducted a survey in 2020 on U.S. financial literacy to determine the level of financial knowledge of the average American adult. This study asked basic questions about personal finance topics like retirement saving, debt management, budgeting, etc. According to the study, the average respondent answered only about half of the questions correctly.1
The more informed we are, the more informed our financial decisions may become. Fortunately, there are a lot of resources to increase financial knowledge.
